Convoy’s Automated Reloads Recognized as a World Changing Idea by Fast Company

Fast Company has announced the winners of its World Changing Ideas Awards, which honors the businesses, policies, projects, and concepts that are actively engaged and deeply committed to flattening the curve when it comes to the climate crisis, social injustice, or economic inequality. Convoy is proud to join the list as the winner in the Transportation category for our work in reducing empty miles in trucking.
Now in its fourth year, the World Changing Ideas Awards showcase 26 winners, more than 200 finalists, and more than 500 honorable mentions. A panel of eminent judges selected winners and finalists from a pool of more than 3,000 entries across transportation, education, food, politics, technology, and more.
This accolade comes nearly a week after we revealed a Carbon Emissions Savings Counter which represents the cumulative pounds of carbon emissions Convoy has prevented from entering the atmosphere by bundling multiple full-truckload shipments for carriers — minimizing empty miles, and lowering the resulting unnecessary carbon emissions.
“We’re honored to be recognized for our efforts reducing empty miles,” said Jennifer Wong, Convoy’s Head of Sustainability. “Trucks on the road, without a load, generate 72 million metric tons of Carbon emissions a year. By batching trips, we’ve already made a meaningful impact and as the volume and density of shipments in our platform grows over time, we’re going to see even more improvements.”
Using machine learning, automation, and other software services, Convoy is focused on using technology to build the most efficient supply chain possible, lowering costs for shippers, increasing earnings for drivers, all while saving our environment.
