Convoy Expands Digital Freight Network to Include Cross-Border Freight with Canada

Today we are expanding our Digital Freight Network to include cross-border freight with Canada. This expansion opens up hundreds of new lanes for thousands of carriers on both sides of the border, at a critical time for essential goods to pass through the international border as seamlessly as possible.  

Historically, cross-border shippers have relied almost exclusively on large fleets and asset-based carriers to move their freight, primarily because those organizations reduce perceived risk and they have the resources needed to handle the complexities involved with moving shipments across the border versus intra-country freight. These challenges include a range of Canadian province-specific compliance requirements and time-intensive federal customs checks at the border. As a result, options have been limited for shippers who often need flexibility beyond what large fleets and asset-based carriers can provide. 

Now, shippers have access to Convoy’s  flexible and reliable digital freight network, to tap into our vast network of owner-operators and small carriers, to move their cross-border freight. Convoy’s fully automated, quality assurance (QA) program measures carrier performance on every load, including on-time delivery and overall reliability, giving cross-border shippers additional assurance that they’re working with the highest quality carriers.

For carriers, Convoy’s expansion enables owner-operators and small carriers to access additional freight, using the Convoy mobile app to find, bid on, and win cross-border loads.

Our cross-border freight offering covers shipments between the U.S. and every Canadian border province, with the exception of Quebec.
