Experience the reliability you’d expect from top asset carriers

Convoy arranges for a trailer when you need it, 24 hours before preload time. Required pickup and dropoff inspections on every load help ensure that our trailers are kept food-grade clean with the tandem slid forward. Plus, every driver is automatically vetted against our rigorous standards on every load, resulting in a 16% lower crash rate and 99.95% of loads delivered without a cargo claim.

Gain unmatched visibility for your drop freight

Smart trailers report on pinpoint location using GPS-based geofencing, revealing whether and how fast they’re moving, if they’re loaded, and when they’re ready to be picked. Convoy sends you daily reports on how many trailers are in your yard, what condition they’re in, and how long they’ve been there, plus how many additional trailers are headed inbound, and when they’ll arrive—all without needing a team on the ground to oversee them.

FAQ

What is drop-and-hook?

Drop-and-hook, or simply, drop, is a term for shipping preloaded trailers directly to facilities. At the simplest level, shippers preload trailers on their own schedule, and then call a carrier to haul the trailer directly to a facility, where it’s dropped off. Drop programs generally are efficient, lower-cost, and they limit waiting time for shippers and drivers.

By preloading trailers on their own time, shippers avoid the headaches that come with live shipments, such as coordinating carrier appointments, or paying detention fees from trucks waiting to unload. For carriers, drop is an opportunity to earn more in an industry that pays by the mile, and their overhead is lowered by not having to rent or own trailers. Drop reduces average carrier unload wait times from three hours to under one hour, which in turn results in fewer detention fees paid by shippers.

How does Convoy Go work?

Using Convoy Go is easy and fast. When you book your first load, let us know your volume, destinations, and preload time, and we’ll send empty trailers to your yards ahead of schedule. You load the trailers on your own time without needing to accommodate waiting carriers.

When the trailers are ready for pickup, a carrier that is part of our digital freight network arrives to haul them to their destinations, nationwide, on any lane. Convoy Go anticipates your needs and routes new trailers to your facilities before you have to ask. The trailers know when they’re loaded, notifying us that it’s time for pickup, all without needing a team on the ground to oversee them.

Convoy Go’s smart trailers give you unmatched visibility into every load, reporting on pinpoint location, revealing whether and how fast they’re moving, if they’re loaded, and if they’re ready to be picked. Convoy sends you daily reports on how many trailers are in your yard, what condition they’re in, and how long they’ve been there, plus how many additional trailers are headed inbound, and when they’ll arrive.

Why should I use Convoy Go rather than traditional drop?

Despite its benefits, traditional drop often fails to accommodate capacity when there is a demand surge, leaving shippers without a truck when they need it the most.

Convoy Go is a modern drop-and-hook service, providing shippers with reliable capacity that can quickly flex to meet shifting demand. It provides thousands of trailers and tens of thousands of power-only tractors, ready to haul at a moment’s notice, on any lane. It delivers the same dependability shippers have come to expect from traditional drop providers, such as a 99.9% equipment availability rate, through innovations that only a digital freight network can provide.

Who can use Convoy Go?

Convoy Go is available nationwide for any shipper with at least 250 annual loads on the same lane. If you already ship with Convoy, contact your account manager. If you’re new to Convoy and are interested in learning more, contact us and we’ll get started.
